In this video I show how I protect my young fruit plants from the winter cold using a fleece blanket. Fleece blankets are a really cheap and easy way to protect young plants, fruits and vegetables from the cold during winter. The fleece blanket should help keep frost and snow away from young plants meaning they will have a better chance of survival compared to having no protection from the winter cold at all. The winter fleece covers I purchased were only £3.50 each and were 1.5x7.5m in size meaning one fleece blanket is enough to cover plenty of raised bed planters or pots around the garden. The fleece blanket cover is breathable meaning there will not be a build up of condensation around the plants and the fleece will allow rain water through to water the plants. Fleece cover blankets can be left in place for weeks / months at a time and require little maintenance meaning they are a great cheap way to help protect your plants.
