PayPal.Me/FiascodaGama patreon.com/fiascodagama Today I explore Colombo on foot through the city centre meeting vegetable stall owners, gadget repairers, bus drivers, tuk tuk drivers, money changers, and come across a street of book sellers who I engage with asking about life, business, and what their plans are in life. I climb the stairs of one book store accidentally knocking books to the floor with my backpack on three separate occasions. This street of book stores has been here for decades with many of the shops passed down through the generations. I find a new business which is engaged in a puja, this being a religious ceremony people engage in the hope of blessings, prosperity, and health. The family invite me in, offer me food, and let me watch proceedings - hopefully my presence is seen as good luck. In the city centre I meet a lovely tuk tuk driver who follows me wanting my business - I explain to him I’ll meet him in an hour where we first met. When I return later in the day he’s not there so I decide to have a beer in a bar, where to my surprise I find my tuk tuk driver. Fortunately he hasn’t been drinking. I visit the floating markets of Colombo only to discover there’s not much doing any floating at all, and realize there’s not much to be seen or experienced at this tourist spot. I head back to my tuk tuk driver and head home for the day.
