Lunging horses the Légèreté way!

Lunging is so much more than running horses around in circles. It's a powerful way to build balance and develop smooth transitions, without the horse having to carry the rider. It also gives us a clear visual of where our horses's asymmetries may be causing issues, such as loading the inside shoulder too heavily or stepping out with one hind leg. If we rely solely on gadgets and side reins, we miss the opportunity to truly see and understand what's happening in the horses movement. Lunging is an art in itself. Working the horse on circles, straight lines and squares while changing direction in motion, keeps things interesting for both horse and handler. And, its great exercise for us, too!
