We are delighted to invite you to join our second event of our new lecture series where we will hear from prominent thinkers and decision makers on the biggest issues of our time. Each lecture will be followed by short Q&A session. This February we will host Nathan Law, former Hong Kong legislator and pro-democracy activist, to speak on ‘Dealing with China’. Nathan Law is a politician and pro-democracy activist from Hong Kong currently living in London with arrest warrants issued against him by the Hong Kong police. He was one of the student leaders during the 79-day Umbrella Movement in 2014. He was jailed for storming the Civic Square in 2014. He became the founding and former chairman of Demosistō, a political party derived from the 2014 protests. In September 2016, Law was elected to serve as a legislator for Hong Kong. His office was challenged by the Hong Kong Government which resulted in his disqualification from the Legislative Council. After the new 2020 Security Law was passed in Hong Kong, Demosistō disbanded and Law left for London due to safety concerns. Law was in Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People of 2020.
