The SONO SION: the SOLAR CAR that Charges Itself The Sono Sion is one of the first electric vehicles to be powered by the Sun. Virtually, every EV on the market is charged by some type of wall adapter kit. However, with the Sono Sion, you have the hidden ability to power your car like it’s Superman, only by driving close to the sun. Just kidding, the car does not need to be that close to the Sun. But it does need certain weather conditions to activate this charging ability. The Sono Sion was born in a garage in Munich, Germany, in December of 2015. The two German founders and inventors of Sono Motors, Jona and Laurin, had a vision to bring solar powered vehicles to the world. That same afternoon, they proved their vision COULD be reality when the pre-prototype of the Sono Sion took its first steps, or in better words, first drive of a couple meters. Fast forward 7 years, their vision of a solar powered electric vehicle is about to become reality.
