This is a progress video showing an HO scale Intermodal Terminal layout that retired teacher of Technology / FIRST robotics coach, Jim Hofmann is developing. The end game is creating a textbook & teachers guide to offer career options in SUPPLY CHAIN / INTERMODAL / LOGISTICS. The author is crafting a how to set of images, advice, suggested vendors and BOM's for a fun hands on learning activity for middle school and high school students and STEM educators. Jim is an NMRA member how continues to research and explore a variety of model railroad products that may provide teachers with a significant positive ROI. Jim is also developing an area resource for STEM educators which is a nonprofit 501-c3 called www.SussexCountyMakerspace.org He can be reached at: Jim@sussexCountyMakerspace.org MRC products were researched and are highlighted in this video merely to demonstrate the positive future potential in engaging students curious about circuitry and electronics as they apply to model railroading and STEM careers. I discovered this set of 3D Printable STL files, (Roadside Billboard) samsve@samsve_195241 https://www.printables.com/model/3406... A layout comes to life when our grandson announces, “Grandpa, can we turn off the basement light now?” So I downloaded these files and scaled from 100% - 55% which seemed to be a good HO scale sized model for my layout. I printed it with silver Prusament PLA & black PLA for the billboard backboard. It also has three lamp covers which are intended to sit above. The designer also allowed for a wire management channel on the back to hide the wires. Now begins my quest to experiment with Light Genie & the variety of LED’s they package in sets of four. Perfect for such a modeler learning along the way. While I’ve added some lighting around my intermodal terminal structures sitting next to Denali. LIGHT GENIE looks like a game changer for way more than just model railroaders like me. The fun begins with swapping out different billboard signs and messages over time. https://www.modelrectifier.com/ https://www.modelrectifier.com/lightg... https://www.modelrectifier.com/produc...
