A video showing buses at the Red Cow interchange (west Dublin), recorded in March 2025. The Red Cow is located in west Dublin, at the junction of the M50 motorway and the N7 Naas Road. It is bounded by Clondalkin ( • Clondalkin Buses | August 2023 ) to the west and Ballymount to the east. Famous for years as a traffic jam blackspot, it became the location of a public transport interchange in 2004 when a Park & Ride site with a tram stop opened as part of the Luas Red Line. Bus stops were also provided beside one of the tram platforms. In 2023, an expanded bus area was opened to replace the original bus stops. This reflected the increase in bus services to the Red Cow, as well as preparatory work for a new bus interchange currently being planned. The Red Cow is served by both city services as well as regional services. When it first opened, all bus services calling in were regional or long-distance, and included those operated by Bus Eireann and private operators. Bus Eireann have pulled out in recent years, but Dublin Coach and JJ Kavanagh still provide connections to Ennis, Limerick, Tralee, Waterford, Cork, Clonmel and Nenagh. Dublin Coach also run two services to Dublin Airport that people can board at Red Cow. Dublin Bus only started terminating services in the Red Cow when the C-Spine under Bus Connects was implemented in November 2021. This brought local route L54 to the interchange, and was later followed by routes G1 and 60 in October 2022 under the G-Spine changes. Prior to that, the closest city bus routes got to the interchange was on the entrance road outside, which is still served today by routes 13, 68 and 69. This video was recorded within the interchange, as well as the access road which feeds off and crosses the Naas Road. Also, as this is also a tram stop, Red Line Luas 3004 makes an appearance at the end with a service from Tallaght to The Point.
