The altercation between Senator representing Ebonyi North, Onyekachi Nwaebonyi, and a former minister of education, Oby Ezekwesili, on Tuesday during the hearing of a Sexual Harassment petition submitted by Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, to the senate committee on ethics, privileges, and public petitions has been met with reactions. The altercation began when the petitioner, Zubairu Yakubu, tried to speak to the Chairman of the committee Neda Imaseun, but was asked to turn off his mic. She then told him to please shut up which immediately sparked an outburst from the senator, who proceeded to call Ezekwesili a fool, a hooligan, and an insult to womanhood. INEC cited the petitioner’s failure to provide valid contact information as the reason for the rejection. In the wake of the tension over the sexual harraamemet allegations against Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, by Natasha Akpoti Uduagan, Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, during an interview with Adesuwa Giwa Osagie, alleged that Akpabio has a history of abusing women. Atiku also accused the National Assembly of corruption following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State.
