Franklin explores Anne Frank’s transformation from an ordinary teenager to a global icon, shedding new light on her life as a Jewish girl in Nazi-occupied Amsterdam and the journey of her famous diary, from its drafts and discovery to its lasting impact. As antisemitism resurfaces today, Franklin examines the controversies and adaptations surrounding Anne’s story, revealing how her image has been understood, misunderstood, and politically used, offering timely insights into her enduring legacy. She lives in Brooklyn, NY. DR. SASKIA COENEN SNYDER is a professor of modern Jewish history at the University of South Carolina and Director of the Jewish Studies Program.
