The Ennis Sisters - I'll Be There Christmas Eve

It’s hard to believe it’s been almost 20 years since Ron Hynes sat in our living room and re-wrote an already incredible Christmas song just for us. Our father, after hearing the original version of “I’ll Be There Christmas Eve”, fell completely in love with the melody and thought it was the perfect song for the Ennis Sisters to cover. However, he was not convinced that the original lyrics were appropriate for his three young daughters to sing so he somehow found the nerve to phone up The Man of a Thousand Songs to ask him if he would go back to the drawing board and re-think his initial approach to the lyrics. Imagine! What’s even more unbelievable is that Ron agreed! This new version of “I’ll Be There Christmas Eve” was recorded on our first Christmas CD, "Christmas On Ennis Road", back in 1999 and has become one of the songs that The Ennis Sisters are most recognized for. We will never be able to properly express our gratitude for the gift of this particular song from Ron. We’re aware of how fortunate we are to have this song in our repertoire. Ron always joked that his mother warned him to stay away from the girls of Cape Broyle because they were nothing but trouble. We’re so glad he made an exception in our case.
