U.S. Hunger Crisis in 2025: U.S. Senators, U.S. Representatives, Anti-Hunger Leaders Share New Data

On November 19, 2025 Hunger Free America CEO Joel Berg, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), U.S. Senator Andy Kim (D-NJ), U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree (D-ME), U.S. Rep. Dan Goldman (NY), and former USDA Secretary and Chair of the Board of Directors of Hunger Free America Dan Glickman, spoke out at this event on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.  This new national study found that 81 percent of U.S. families earning between $75,000 to $100,000 per year—usually considered to be upper middle class—faced higher costs of living in the past year, which is why fully 64% of such families said it was harder for them to afford the amount and quality of food they and/or their household needed.
