Ayodhya, an ancient city in Uttar Pradesh, India, holds immense historical and mythological significance. Known as the birthplace of Lord Rama, the city is described in the Indian epic Ramayana as the capital of the Kosala Kingdom. Its history dates back thousands of years, making it one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. I recently visited Ayodhya for five days and tried to capture the soul of the city through this Ayodhya vlog - both at the new Ram temple, but also in the numerous ancient temples in the narrow lanes of the city. 00:00 Introduction 01:30 History of Ayodhya 03:04 Hanuman Garhi Temple 04:07 Chapter 1 - The City of Rama 06:53 Story of Ram Temple 07:43 Tips for planning a visit to Ram Temple 11:13 Kanak Bhawan 13:04 Dashrath Mahal 13:34 Guptar Ghat 15:41 Ram Ji Poori Bhandar 16:27 Valmiki Bhawan 20:45 Maurya Misthan Bhandar 21:36 Chapter II - Hidden Temples of Ayodhya 22:12 Nageshwar Nath Temple 23:07 Kaleram Temple 25:10 Ram Janki Station Temple 25:45 Patthar Temple 26:26 Janaki Mahal 27:18 Vishwa Virat Temple 28:00 Chandra Marwari Bhojnalay 28:51 Ram ki Pauri 29:39 Chapter III - Story of River Saryu 31:01 Saryu Mata Temple 32:55 Saryu Aarti 35:40 Chapter IV - City of Festivals 35:47 Deepawali in Ayodhya 36:24 Chhath in Ayodhya 38:18 14 Kosi Yatra 40:21 Chapter V - Rama in Kalyug? ► LOVE OUR MUSIC? It is believed to have been founded by Manu, the progenitor of humanity in Hindu tradition though archeologically the date we have currently is about 3000 years. According to the Ramayana, Ayodhya was a prosperous and magnificent city during the reign of King Dasharatha, Lord Rama's father, and served as the backdrop for many key events in the epic. Beyond its mythological roots, Ayodhya has a rich historical legacy. During the Maurya and Gupta periods, the city thrived as a cultural and trade hub. Ancient Buddhist texts refer to it as Saketa, and the city is said to have been a center for Buddhism during Emperor Ashoka’s reign. In the medieval period, Ayodhya saw a blend of Hindu and Islamic influences. It remained a significant site for both religious and cultural activities. However, its prominence declined during later centuries, only to resurge in modern times as a focal point of Hindu spirituality. Today, Ayodhya is not just a city of temples and legends but also a symbol of India’s layered history, blending mythology, religion, and culture into its timeless identity.
