Hey, it's Harris Harrington again with another video relating to depersonalization disorder. For many of you, this video is old news, but for some this video will be new information. You may be thinking about smoking, or have already smoked and had a massive panic attack. Smoking weed often causes immense panic attacks in people. In fact, marijuana might cause a person's very first panic attack. In these panic attacks, people often times feel like they are unreal, that they are going insane, that they are totally cut off from themselves, their bodies, their identities as well as cut off from the surrounding world. If you have just smoked weed and experienced this, you are suffering what is known as depersonalization (and derealization). If the feelings last, you technically have what is known as depersonalization disorder (DPD). If you're watching this video, and you're questioning whether or not to smoke weed, I just want to warn you that you're taking a risk. Depersonalization disorder is the third most common mental disorder, yet most people don't know about it. It's often triggered by marijuana. Having said that, smoking marijuana is just the trigger, the tip of a psychological iceberg. The true causes of depersonalization are much deeper, and once you get the disorder you have to treat these underlying issues (which is what I teach in my program the Total Integration Method).
