While looking for a Tim Holtz die on eBay, I stumbled on a mystery box filled with old art supplies. The listing wasn’t clear if the paints were usable, so I messaged the seller and asked for a discount. She said yes—and I bought it! In this video, I open the box and test everything: soft pastels, oil pastels, glimmer paints, and more. Some were surprisingly good, others were definitely not. I also share some interesting company background info (not included on the packaging—just extra details I researched for you!). 🖌️ Products Tested: Tombow Eraser (Mono) — Japanese brand since 1913, Mono line since 1963. Prismacolor NuPastels — Firmer pastels made for precision, this set is from 1997. Alphacolor Soft Pastels — Great blending and pigment, no info on box. Holbein Semi-Hard Pastels — Hard to use and didn't blend well. Crayola Portfolio Oil Pastels — Water-soluble (since 2013), best used dry. Sakura Cray-Pas Oil Pastels — First oil pastels (1925), but this batch was unusable. Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze + Shimmer Watercolor — A brand I love from my early crafting days! Dr. Ph. Martin’s Iridescent Accent — Sticky, shimmery, and more like liquid acrylics. ✨ At the end, I turn all my swatches into an art journal page—because I believe even experiments and tests can become beautiful art. 🎥 Curious how I got into crafting through mixed media during a tough time in my life?
