Air India, IndiGo suspend Gulf flights; Indians stranded at airports amid West Asia tensions

Air India has extended the suspension of flights to and from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Israel and Qatar until 11.59 pm on 2nd March. Select Europe-bound flights scheduled for today have also been cancelled. IndiGo has extended its suspension till today and asked passengers to check its website for updates on cancelled services. The Ministry of Civil Aviation said its Passenger Assistance Control Room is actively addressing traveller grievances. So far, 411 complaints have been resolved in coordination with airlines and airport operators. Helpline numbers issued by Indian embassies are also being shared with passengers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a key security review meeting where the committee was briefed on the 28th February airstrikes in Iran and attacks in Gulf nations. Concerns over the safety of Indians, including travellers and students, were discussed. The government is also reviewing the potential economic implications and assured that all necessary assistance will be extended to affected Indian nationals.
