F-250 Shifter Stuck in Park with temporary "fix"

SEE UPDATE AT BOTTOM My Ford F-250 wouldn't shift out of park the other day. Took me four hours to figure out how to get it going. I'm 90% sure the shift interlock solenoid is faulty. There's a chance that it could also be a brake switch. However, my brake lights are working so I don't think it's that. The solenoid costs about $120.00 and since I'm not 100% sure that this is the problem I decided to make an appointment at the Ford dealer. I'll be keeping a 7/32 socket in my truck from now on. It's fixed. It wasn't a faulty shift interlock solenoid like I thought it was. Turns out I had a wire shorted out and somehow the short was affecting my brake switch which is all tied into the shifter lock. The dealer took many hours to figure this out and to isolate where the actual short was located. (paperwork says the short was under the drivers seat?) Total repair cost $321.20 I think they gave me a brake considering how long they had my truck (about 7 hours) Amazon Store...
