Making the Wise Choice – Joshua 24 | Man's Role in Family - Bible Study

In the Book of Joshua 24, we learn that Joshua is now 110 years old, and in his final address to the Israelites he challenges them to make the wise choice. At the time the Israelites had settled in and were enjoying a season of rest from all their enemies. So, Joshua called together all the elders, leaders, judges, and officers of Israel and summoned all of Israel along with this group of leaders to meet at Shechem. Joshua provided historical perspective. He challenged. He warned. He presented a choice. Then Joshua announced his choice told everyone there. And Joshua instructed the Israelites that their words of reverence were cheap and didn’t mean anything. The Israelites were insistent that they would serve and follow God. Joshua got real and personal with the people of Israel as he exposed and helped clean out compromise that contradicted their verbal commitment and he made a covenant. Joshua’s final address to the Israelites is as applicable today to all of us who have a leadership role in our family, as it was back 3,250 years ago. When it comes to leading our families, we too need to be making the wise choice! In this message we take a fresh look at Joshua 24 through the lens of our relationship with God and the choices we have made and will make. Why? …Because eternity hangs in the balance based on the choice we make.
