In this episode Stevie is in Sicily, at the Feudo Maccari winery in the beautiful and baroque Noto. Here he continues his conversation with the Moretti Cuseri family by visiting their estate on the island. After a walk through the cellar with Antonio Moretti Cuseri, Stevie meets his son Amedeo who introduces her to Feudo Maccari's flagship wine Saia, whose name derives from the irrigation channels created to collect rainwater by the Arabs centuries ago. Amadeo Moretti Cuseri explains to Stevie which grapes are grown at Feudo Maccari and the particular characteristics of the climate and terroir. When Antonio Moretti Cuseri, already owner of Tenuta Sette Ponti in Tuscany, visited Val di Noto he immediately felt in love so much that he planned to begin a new adventure there. Antonio Moretti Cuseri has managed to put together 250 hectares of property and Feudo Maccari was founded. Located in the heart of Baroque Sicily, in the wonderful countryside between Noto and Pachino, the winery includes 60 hectares under vine exclusively relying on the head-trained system, an ancient process brought over by the first Greek colonists. In Feudo Maccari is practiced only organic farming and you can find native grape varieties like Nero d’Avola, Grillo, and Moscato di Noto, as well as international ones like Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, able to bring a fruity elegance and rich minerality.
