Israeli strikes destroy buildings in Lebanese city of Tyre

In Lebanon, Israel launched a fresh round of airstrikes on Monday on the historic city of Tyre, killing seven. Avichay Adraee, a spokesman for the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), told civilians to flee large parts of the city, including areas that had not previously been targeted, before the airstrikes began. Israel said it struck anti-tank missile depots, military buildings and reconnaissance sites belonging to Hezbollah, which it claims has a large presence in the city. Tyre is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and its Unesco-protected ruins include a Roman hippodrome, an aqueduct and a triumphal arch.
