Lofoten Kvalvika Beach Winter Hike

The hike to Kvalvika Beach is rather short. In summer in good weather you can easily do the 2 km in 1 to 1.5 hours However, in winter, with snow, it's a bit more "difficult". First of all, you don't really see the "path" anymore, so you somehow rely on following other people's footsteps. We did that a lot, but then realised that very often we followed footsteps of people who clearly also got lost in deep snow, lol... So yeah, in winter it is definetly EASIER to do it with snowshoes, so you don't sink into the snow so much and can make your own path. Or you use skis, which seems to be the "norwegian way" to do this (I guess they laughed about us when they saw us "hiking" it...). Just next to the beach there is a small self made surfer beach hut. Two young Norwegian guys stayed there for 9 months in winter from September 2010 and built the hut out of stuff they found on the beach.
