TSW Effie Restoration Episode 6

In this episode I tackle the axle bearings on Effie. I sourced the cored bronze from a company called Leeds Bronze, which is not too far from the workshop so saved a few quid by collecting it. Axle bearings are a very commonly worn component of a locomotive, and can show a multitude of issues. Getting them right is imperative, so that Effie can run true, but there's a lot of ancillary work that needs to be carried out before the conclusion of this element. This restoration started at the back end of 2024, with a hiatus to tackle some other projects at the steam workshop.
