#organ #churchorgan #pipeorgan Me playing the organ at St Mary's Church in Ambleside in the beautiful Lake District. The organ was first built in 1898 by Robert Hope-Jones of Cheshire. Robert Hope-Jones is seen as the inventor of the cinema organ and some of his original pipework can be found still in this instrument including the Diaphone, Tibia and Tuba stops. In the late 1930s the organ was rebuilt to it's current format by Hill, Norman & Beard which saw the choir division added. In 2014 the organ was restored by Lightbown & Sons of Tyneside. I am playing the hymn "Thanks to God whose word was spoken" to the tune 'Regent Square' from the United Reformed Church hymnal 'Rejoice and Sing'. Many thanks to the church officials for allowing me access to this superb instrument.
