Main Cathedral and Museum of the Russian Armed Forces located in 50 kilometers from Moscow and built in 2020. In this video we walk through huge outside territory containing World War II installations, go inside of Cathedral, and walk through the museum "1418 steps to the Victory" (1.5 kilometers), which is symbolizing the number of days of the Great Patriotic War. The cathedral was constructed to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Soviet victory in the Great Patriotic War (World War II). It serves as both a place of worship and a monument to Russia’s military history. Designed in a monumental Russian style, the cathedral incorporates modern architectural techniques while maintaining traditional Orthodox elements. Its façade is clad in metal, and the arches are glazed, creating a striking visual effect. Many architectural details reflect historical dates: The central dome’s diameter is 19.45 meters, symbolizing the year 1945, when Nazi Germany surrendered. The height of smaller domes is 14.18 meters, representing the 1,418 days of the war. Some parts of the cathedral, including its steps, were made from melted-down German tanks, symbolizing the triumph over the enemy. The Saviour-Not-Made-by-Hands icon in the central dome is the largest mosaic depiction of Christ’s face ever created. This cathedral is not just a religious site—it’s a powerful symbol of Russia’s military legacy, blending faith, history, and national pride into one monumental structure.
