Andre Galvao No Gi Grappling Match vs Alexandre Cacareco Ferreira ADCC 2007 This was the bronze medal match up in the stacked absolute division of ADCC 2007. Other names included Marcelo Garcia, Mario Miranda, Rolles Gracie, Tarsis Humphreys, Braulio Estima, Xande Ribeiro, David Avellan, Baret Yoshida Fabricio Werdum and the eventual winner, Robert Drysdale. André Galvão, also known as “Deco” is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Luis “Careca” Dagmar, having also worked extensively with Fernando Terere. Galvão is regarded as one of the greatest competitors to have ever graced the sport, a reputation conquered through important titles such as IBJJF World Champion, IBJJF Pan American Champion (8x), and ADCC champion (2x). André Galvão also competed in mixed martial arts (MMA), having retired from cage-fighting with a record of 5-2-0 to lead the Atos Jiu-Jitsu Academy. Heading the team’s headquarters in San-Diego, CA Galvão established one of the strongest BJJ teams in of the modern era of the sport. Ferreira made his promotional Ultimate Fighting Championship debut against Vladimir Matyushenko on November 13, 2010 at UFC 122, losing via first round TKO. Ferreira was expected to face Rousimar Palhares on March 3, 2011 at UFC Live: Sanchez vs. Kampmann. However, on January 18, Ferreira was dismissed from Chute Boxe, his home training camp, for a "lack of commitment." Less than an hour later, it was reported that the fight had been cancelled due to Ferreira losing family and friends in the Brazilian floods, resulting in him being in "no condition to train or fight." Palhares faced David Branch. Ferreira/Palhares was expected to take place on August 27, 2011 at UFC 134.[5] However, Ferreira was released from the organization and replaced by Dan Miller.
