Welcome to Neurosurgery UNPAD Official Youtube Channel of Departemen Bedah Saraf UNPAD Department of Neurosurgery, Universitas Padjadjaran - Hasan Sadikin Hospital Bandung was officially established in 1971. The late Prof. Dr. med. Iskarno, SpBS was founder of our department and also one of the pioneer of neurosurgical service in Indonesia. He subsequently served as Head of the Department from 1971 to 1996. With minimal diagnostic equipment and anesthesia technology, the development of neurosurgical operations in our department was initiated. In 1972, the neurosurgical education began with the acceptance of dr. Beny Atmadja Wirdjomartani as the first resident, followed by dr. Kahdar Wiriadisastra (later became Professor). Both of them were accepted as teaching staff in our department right after finishing their residency. Until now, dr. Beny is still actively teaching neuroanatomy for young residents in the department. Since 1971, our department has graduated 154 neurosurgeon, which is the highest percentage of all neurosurgeons in Indonesia. Many of them became pioneers in the development of neurosurgical service in their region.
