The Greatest Medieval Map-Maker: Al-Idrisi and Roger's Silver Disc Yossef Rapoport is Professor of Islamic History at Queen Marys University London. In this talk, he introducies the pioneering work of Muhammad Al-Idrisi, cartographer to the Norman King Roger II of Sicily. Al-Idrisi created a legendary map in the form of a silver disc, which has been lost to history, as well as an atlas of the world known as The Book of Roger, or the Tabula Rogeriana.
