This is a series that focuses on, predominantly, the element of Melody in music with the occasional commentary on harmony, counterpoint, and form. It will look at a variety of musics but mostly various periods of the Common Practice Period (Baroque, Classical, Romantic), early 20th century musics, and retro VGM (NES - PS1). So if you've ever wondered how to write or analyze melodies, check this series out! It takes you through all of the little steps so that you can better understand not only the individual melody, but melodic composition as a whole. In this installment we take on Enjoy Your Stay or the Hotel Theme from Earthbound on the Super Nintendo which was composed by the groove masters, Keiichi Suzuki and Hirokazu Tanaka! This is a very short and simple theme, but it has a lot that we can learn from, especially regarding structural analysis!
