In 2024, Adaya & Ursula Suchanek found themselves being hired for a nostalgic wooden carousel. Of course; that always happens to folk musicians and that‘s how this project all started. Atmospheric and dark, the songs delve deep into the hearts of the listeners with personal lyrics, featuring Adaya's main vocals accompanied by banjo and guitar, as well as Ursula on the quinton (a five-stringed fiddle) providing harmony vocals. Newly arranged folk songs and poems set to music captivate the audience. Musically, they evoke the likes of Martin Simpson, Karen Dalton, Townes Van Zandt, and 70s heroes like Steeleye Span & Fairport Convention. However, they find it very difficult to be pigeonholed. The songs are inspired by old music, reinterpreted as original compositions, and thus have a timeless quality. On "The Other Side," Adaya successfully reinterprets folk music through the bright window of intelligent songwriting and truly experimental arrangements. It's an extremely varied and often captivating release from a unique voice. - Folk Radio UK Recording an album is like a magical process for the Bernese musician Adaya. "New Land," the folk musician's new solo album, released on Friday, sounds exactly like that: like a spell cast over deserts, cities, fields, and forests. - Swiss Blick I know I'm easily impressed. People quickly capture my attention, I am open to new experiences, and I am willing to adapt to any situation. But I also know when something is truly exceptional. For example, "New Land" is the new album by Bernese musician Adaya. - Rockette Adaya has been active in the Swiss music scene for quite some time, both solo and with a larger band. Her last album, "New Land," was released under the auspices of the music agencies Echo & Black Stellar Music, accompanied by numerous concerts and performances at Swiss festivals such as Buskers Bern. Since 2020, Adaya has been touring the world with the internationally successful and three-time Echo-nominated band FAUN from Germany, including appearances at renowned festivals like Wacken, Hellfest, and Rudolstadt Festival. Adaya is currently working with Ursula Suchanek on her next release, „Love to Wander,“ which will be published in autumn 2026. We'll already be able to hear some of the new tracks at their concerts.
