Medical Students Run Free Local Clinic in the Bronx

http://www.einstein.yu.edu - In 1999, medical students at Albert Einstein College of Medicine took on the mission of providing uninsured Bronx residents access to healthcare. They approached The Institute for Family Health, a federally qualified health center network, which sees all patients regardless of their ability to pay. The volunteer students and the Institute operate the Einstein Community Health Outreach (ECHO) Free Clinic on Saturdays. Underserved patients in the Bronx and beyond now have access to free comprehensive primary care. Einstein students, under the guidance of attending physicians, get hands-on experience running every aspect of the clinic from the front desk to patient care.
