Do You Really Lose Your Frontal Lobe When You're Dysregulated? | Trauma, Neuroscience & Spiritual Growth Hello beautiful sacred souls 💛 One of the most common teachings in spiritual and therapeutic spaces is that when you become emotionally dysregulated, you “lose access to your frontal lobe.” The implication is often that if you were conscious or healed enough, you wouldn’t react. But neuroscience tells a more nuanced story. In this video, I explore the truth about how the brain actually works during emotional activation, and why the ability to think clearly during stress is not a moral or spiritual achievement — it is a developmental nervous system capacity built through safety, attachment, and healing. We discuss: • What actually happens in the brain when we feel threatened • The relationship between the amygdala, limbic system, and prefrontal cortex • Why dysregulation does not completely shut off your frontal lobe • How early attachment and relational safety shape emotional regulation • Why trauma survivors sometimes retain awareness even while activated • Why shame-based teachings about regulation can be harmful • How healing increases nervous system capacity over time This video bridges trauma-informed psychology, neuroscience, and spirituality to offer a compassionate and accurate understanding of emotional regulation.
