Exploring the VIP Ski Resort in the 3 Vallées | Courchevel 1850 | 2025 France ski season

Courchevel has a reputation for luxury. There's ads for financial products and apartments, Rolex and Prada stores, and, apparently, you see a lot of celebrities. I don't know how much of this is marketing, but what I do know is that it feels premium, even if you're just breezing through like I was. There's even some ponies just chilling out! Rich people love horses and horse-adjacent animals! Despite all that, Courchevel is plenty welcoming. I've gone to shopping malls and other places that are full of brands I'd never be able to afford, and they've left me with the sense that they were for people of a much higher class and status than me. Skiing is hardly egalitarian, but I think it's because once you're on the slopes, everyone is pretty much equal, so even fancier ski resorts like this don't feel that exclusive. It's not all luxury, either. I was really taken by the church overlooking the junction in this video's thumbnail (Chapelle Notre-Dame de l'Assomption à Courchevel). I always found myself turning the camera to face the bell tower because it looked like it was almost hewn out of the side of the valley. The food was pretty good, reasonably priced, and they gave me some genepi liqueur on the house. How can you go wrong with that?
