I am living in China for nearly a deca and i always thought it is very difficult to visit Xinjiang because i was very influenced by the media talks that government of China put really harsh restrictions on the local of Xinjiang Uyghur Muslims because of their religion. Finally, in 2022 i decided to go there to see the reality with my own eys and wanted to experience the life their by living in Xinjiang cities and living in Uyghur villages to see what is the reality of Muslims life there. First i took flight from dalian to Xi’an, it was a connecting flight to Kashgar, an ancient capital of Xinjiang and an economic hub on the silk road outside of the Han lands of ancient china. The population in Kashgar contains different minorities groups such as Farsi(Persian), kazakh, Uzbek and biggest ethnic group Uyghur Muslim ethnicity. I reached Kashgar around 9 p.m and the shocking thing i noticed in Kashgar was the sun was still shining in sky at 9.pm. Because china has the same timezone across the country. I lived in a good hotel in kashgar and another strange things i noticed was most of hotels doesn’t allow foreigners to stay in their hotels not only in kashgar but allover china. There were many great tourist attractions in Kashgar such as old ancient town, grand mosque which is the largest mosque in China and the old town. I decided to visit old town which is the most famous and beautiful tourist attractions not only in kashgar but allover Xinjiang. When i reached there i saw a magnificent entrance, looked like a city from the past but full of tourists allover china. Inside there were bazars and shops and restaurants which all showed the colors of local culture and infrastructure. The most interesting thing catched my eyes was an old Saraye, or a guest house, things were kept in its original form, wide big rooms with carpets on ground and walls, muddy walls with wooden pillars and windows and doors. This culture looked more like arab culture than Han. The reason was travelers in ancient time who came to visit china for trade, local people of xinjiang kept their culture according to the visitor’s culture. The food there very tasty and hygienic. People were trying different food but i kept my stomach empty because it is pretty sensitive. At the end of the visit. I danced with local girls on Kashgar, they were more open and friendly than a typical muslims girls. It shows muslim in Xinjiang are different than the middle east.
