Since 1994, hundreds of cancer patients from throughout the region have come to Roger Williams Medical Center, home to Rhode Island's only Blood and Marrow Transplantation Program. In this comprehensive transplant center, autologous, allogeneic (related and unrelated), and cord blood transplantation services are offered. In fact, since 2010, 235 transplantation procedures have been conducted here The BMT program is an integral part of the nationally recognized Roger Williams Cancer Center and its exceptional team of medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists. It is housed in a dedicated unit located in the hospital that is supplied with high-efficiency particulate air-filtration systems to protect patients who cannot resist infection. Patients are monitored through a centralized intensive care patient monitoring system, which includes highly skilled nurses who have expertise in high-dose, anti-tumor chemotherapy administration, and management of transplant-related side effects.
