The coronavirus pandemic turned the world of travel upside down. As lockdowns are lifted across the country, certain groups still want to get from coast to coast. Here are a few ways millennial travel is set to change. Take it from the CEO of both Generator and Freehand Hotels. He tells Forbes the main guest segment they’re targeting is 20 to 28-year-olds since this age group is much more eager to start traveling again, compared to other groups. Which makes sense. We’ve heard a million times how older adults might be at a higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. Fuel’s COVID-19 Consumer Sentiment Study series found the same thing. After surveying 7,000 people of all age groups, millennials consistently said they’d be more willing to travel sooner than Gen X and Baby Boomers. But they do have their concerns. They want to make sure they’re booking flexible trips, so they can change the dates without penalty. They also want deep discounts and survey results showed millennials will spend less money than other age groups. And they’re keeping things local, shying away from international trips for a while. That’s according to a recent poll of Gen Z and millennial consumers from Chicago-based research firm, TruePublic. Many millennials could be trading plane tickets for a set of keys to an RV, as CNN says it’s the summer of the RV. It seems that way, based on new findings from the market researcher Ipsos that the RV Industry Association funded, revealing a whopping 46 million Americans plan to take an RV trip in the next 12 months.
