I made a mess of my original mold removal video, so here is the updated one that includes a lot of research and assistance from people much smarter than me. Mold CANNOT be removed properly with DIY methods. My original method of mixing a solution of washing soda and water, is incorrect. It’s really tricky and requires some pretty heavy lifting from active ingredients like, TAEDs, peracetic acid, and quats. To oversimplify it these are some of the common ingredients in disinfectants, bleaches and sanitizers. As for what products are best, here are some recommendations. For laundry, use the lysol laundry sanitizer or oxygen bleach based laundry sanitizers like oxiclean sanitizer. Detergents with oxi included will be really helpful too. Plus, using hot water is a must for moldy clothes. Ideally 140 F+ Other things that will work for mold include special disinfectants that include high strength hydrogen peroxide or chlorine bleach. However I'd be careful when using these products with clothing. chlorine bleach and high strength hydrogen peroxide will change the color of your natural fibers like cotton or silk and cause the fabric to fall apart prematurely. When it comes to surfaces, which is a little out of my comfort zone, cause I’m a laundry guy, products like microban 24, concrobium, and lysol wipes will be best suited for this task.
