Download Your Free Music Production Handbook Now: https://berkonl.in/3JBxeTK Earn Your Music Production Degree Online with Berklee: https://berkonl.in/3DEnKDE In this video from Berklee Online’s Audio Mastering Techniques course, course co-author Jonathan Wyner explains how to use iZotope RX to eliminate coughs, and the different techniques that can be used in order to get the most realistic results. As the video explains, removing an artifact like a cough takes a lot of trial and error. Going to the spectral repair mode in your plug-in, you’ll have the option to either replace or attenuate a sound. The replace feature will completely resynthesize your sound, and although this can be used in different settings, for the case of removing a cough, you should probably use the attenuate feature, as the replace feature can create unwanted artifacts. In the attenuate window, you can also change the specificity of the band you are trying to manipulate. Exploring the different parameters is a great way to get experience and give you a chance to see different results.
