Laura + Sean's Mt Baker Summit Elopement!

Laura and Sean met when Sean moved to Washington from Philly because he fell in love with the outdoor wonders of the Pacific Northwest. Laura is from Washington originally. Together, these two combined their love for hiking and bagging peaks to challenge each other and grow! When we talked with them about how they envisioned their elopement day, they knew they wanted to summit a local icon. Mt. Baker was just the volcano! We spent months planning and training for this climb and also coordinating with the Mt. Baker Ranger District about permits and protocol. On the morning of Day 1, we met Laura and Sean, along with their close friends Dale (their officiant), Tim (witness #1) and Dani (witness #2), and began last minute preps before starting the approach to camp. We made it to camp by late afternoon, set everything up, sat around making dinner and melting snow for more water, and, with the setting sun, had Laura and Sean do their first look below the Squak Glacier. We then got into our tents, snuggled into our warm sleeping bags, and prepared for a 2AM wakeup. In the early morning of Day 2, we woke up, got ropes and crampons on, and set off into the dark with only our headlamps to light the way. With Laura and Sean on one rope team and Tim, Dale and Dani on another, they climbed their way from camp to the summit at 10,786 feet! After a wardrobe change for Laura and Sean, we began their ceremony on a deserted summit plateau. We were so lucky to have the summit to ourselves (and sunshine!) for their entire ceremony. After their ceremony, they changed back into climbing attire to tag the true summit, and then headed back down the Roman Wall to camp to pack up and head back down to the cars for pizza and beers with their family waiting!
