Recording outdoors requires wind protection for the microphone, it's just as simple as that. Sure, maybe there's an occasional day when the wind is still while we're recording, but we just can't count on it. One of the reasons the little Zoom Q4 music camera impressed me was the clever arrangement of the microphones and the effective windsock that's included in the box. When I compared the Q4 to the Sony HDR-MV1 the Sony generally outshone the Zoom in audio and video, unless there was wind. Then the Sony was useless and the Zoom got the shot. One of the folks commenting on the Homebrewed Music Blog http://www.homebrewedmusic.com/2015/0... gave a link to a video where the Tascam WS-2i is adapted to fit the Sony MV1 • Видео Tomoaki Koyama is the author of this video. I bought the same Tascam windsock and attempted to fit it to my Sony MV1. I would say my first attempt is only marginally successful. I've studied Mr. Koyama's video a bit more and ordered a second Tascam WS-2i, hopefully I can do better in a second attempt. In the meantime, in this clip you can hear the modified Tascam windsock on the Sony HDR-MV1 compared to the Zoom Q4 with its included windsock.
