Welcome once again Llama Paw striders, walkers and explorers! I’m back in my beloved Leicestershire, and off on a charity marathon to visit and raise money for local historic churches. As normal, I keep the on camera chatter during the walk to a minimum – so just sit back and enjoy the stunning scenery and marvellous buildings! My route starts at All Saints Church, Seagrave, and then heads north out of the village, across some fields and finally into Ragdale village a few miles distant. From here it’s across the fields, through an equestrian centre and then more fields to arrive in Grimston, and then south down the road to nearby Saxelbye. From here I take a scenic walk across farmlands until I arrive in tiny Wartnaby – and then it’s a simple hope, skip and jump into Ab Kettleby. After crossing the hectic A606 it’s a lovely stretch of fields and farms leading me to Holwell for a lunchtime break of a whole five (!) minutes. Then I cross the old mine workings and take the lengthy cross-country route to Scalford. From Scalford I pound the roads through Wycomb – despite its lack of church to visit – and then it’s the road north to Goadby Marwood. I then pick up a field route further north, under a doomy, gloomy storm cloud riven kinda sky, and am grateful to arrival in Eastwell warm and dry. The dark clouds depart, and leave me enjoying the roads in sunshine to the east as I head into Eaton: where cake awaits! But there’s no time to tarry, as I have to slog on towards first nearby Branston, and then past the Knipton Reservoir to Knipton itself some ways to the north. From Knipton, I take the rolling roads up and down the hills into Harston, and then it’s due south by first road and then fields, and up yet more imposing hills, to my final church of the day in goosetastic Croxton Kerrial. Phew – what a walk! If you’ve enjoyed this walk as much as I did – don’t forget to show your appreciation by giving me a like, subscribe or a share!
