I couldn't resist picking up a second-hand Yamaha EZ-AG MIDI guitar. Turns out it's as ridiculous, kitschy and weird as I'd hoped, but also far more useful than I expected. Originally released in 2003 as a “self-teaching” guitar, the EZ-AG hides a surprisingly capable multitimbral synthesizer sound engine, full General MIDI implementation, and works well as a MIDI controller for synths. An especially fun companion for my Synthstrom Deluge. If you can find one cheap, it might still be worth your time as a controller or sound module.
