Engine 13-1 and Tower 13 responded with a crew of 4. Deputy 13 arrived on scene to find fire showing from the second floor of a 2-story wood frame dwelling. Shortly after the arrival of Deputy 13, Tower 13 arrived as the first-due special and Engine 13-1 as the first-due engine with their own hydrant out front of the residence. A 200’ 1 ¾” attack line off the rear was stretched and deployed at the front door. Crews began mask-up for entry. 13-1 Officer completed his mask-up first and began making his way to the second floor to locate the fire room for his crew. Upon reaching the second floor hallway, 13-1 Officer observes the silhouette of an elderly female occupant who was conscious and breathing. 13-1 Officer swiftly extricated the occupant from the second floor hallway to the front lawn and handed off to EMS. Immediately after the extrication of the occupant, Tower 13 completed primary searches on all divisions. Primaries on all floors were negative with the exception of the one victim who was located by 13-1 Officer. While primaries were being performed, Engine 13-1’s crew located the fire room and began extinguishment. Simultaneously with water on the fire, horizontal and vertical ventilation was performed to improve interior conditions. The bulk of the fire had been knocked. Searches went underway in the fire room with negative results. Hidden fire and hot spots were located and extinguished, and opening up was performed as needed to preserve the fire room as much as possible for Fire Marshal investigation. After the Fire Marshal has gained all details and photos, crews undergo a thorough overhaul process. Two minor firefighter ankle injuries were also noted; both were evaluated and transported. The occupant was removed approximately 1:45 upon fire department arrival and water was on the fire in approximately 2:30. In the end, the majority of the fire was contained just to the fire room with minor extension into the hallway and the exterior eaves. No fire was located in the attic space. — 🎥 Incident Video and Training 11 cameras were utilized during this incident, allowing our membership to obtain valuable footage for recruitment and training.
