https://www.justgiving.com/fundraisin... #popchoir-cruse-appeal in aid of CRUSE BEREAVEMENT CARE The Coronavirus crisis has had a major impact on all our lives and the thousands of people who have died during this time is heartbreaking. When the figures are so big it is hard to connect them to real people, and yet behind every lost-life there is a person with a family, with friends and neighbours, and every person has their own story. Saying goodbye to our loved ones is one of the hardest things we have to do in life, and honouring them, their lives, their achievements and their story is a significant part of the grieving process. During this pandemic many thousands have not had that privilege with their loved ones. Social distancing has meant that families have been unable to say goodbye properly, daughters and sons have feelings of guilt at having to leave parents to die in the arms of strangers in hospitals, and funerals by video link have become a regular feature. After his own father died a few years ago, composer Sandy Nuttgens wrote a modern requiem ‘Gently and Still’ as a way of processing his own grief. In his minds eye he imagined gently holding his father, saying all those things he wanted to tell him, and letting his dad know that he will always be in his heart. Popchoir have come together to record their own version of this requiem, with a beautiful choral arrangement by Popchoir Director Helen Hampton, leading 170 voices singing their love to everyone who has lost a loved one during the coronavirus. We would like to use this moment to raise funds for the charity Cruse Bereavement Care who offer desperately needed support and advice to those who are grieving. Social isolation can make feelings of loneliness and grief much more intense. For some it has meant having to stay by themselves in the same house they shared with the person who has died. The work of the Cruse helpline has been, and will continue to be, essential in helping people feel less alone and giving those in grief somewhere to turn. Please help us by donating via our justgiving page. www.justgiving.com/fundraising/PopchoirRequiem Every penny donated will go to www.cruse.org.uk . It is unthinkable that anybody should suffer bereavement alone. A donation from you will help to train Cruse volunteers to support clients over the phone and fund the technology they need to keep providing vital support.
