Join Hui o Ko'olaupoko as we embark on a multi-month journey to discover and hone skills involved in propagating plants. In this free zoom series, we will invite guest speakers & experts in the field to share about their work and teach about the propagation technique they are most familiar with. In this episode, Rick Barboza from the native plant nursery Hui Ku Maoli Ola will teach us about propagation by cuttings. Rick is a graduate of Kamehameha School in 1993; he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Zoology from the University of Hawai’i in 1999, with a primary focus on Hawaii’s natural history & the conservation of native biota; co-founded Hui Ku Maoli Ola in 1999; elected to the Board of Directors for the Honolulu Botanical Gardens in 2002; and was the primary contributor to the weekly Star Bulletin newspaper Friday article In The Garden from June, 2002-2009.
