Nick Stargu granted full permission to be able to share this video on the Pete Ham Official YouTube Page. Video was only given a few minor alterations, Surprises music was left in because they rock and write great music. Below is taken from the original posting and further below is additional info about the event from Nick. Members of Badfinger, Peter Ham, Tom Evans along with manager, Bill Collins, relaxing after performing at Lyman Auditorium, at Southern CT State College, in Hamden, CT on April 18, 1971. Opening members of the band 'Surprise" in deep conversation with them sharing stories. Nick Stargu, Ralph Collazo (Papo), Ken Nessing, Ken Stabach, John Mengual, Tom Nessing, Miriam Cohen, Ed Cohen. Footage was taken with an 8mm camera with no sound. Audio background originally had various songs written by Badfinger, but was terminated by YouTube after complaints about royalties for the songs were brought up. Instead there are some originals of "Surprise" performed that night as background audio. Hope you enjoy the rare footage, I apologize for the rough footage transfer from ancient 8mm footage was a task. After the show our managers for Surprise invited the whole band back to their home to relax and have a few beers. Only Pete, Tom and Bill showed up, the others wanted to relax at their hotel. Sad but since the video, Pete, Tom, Bill and also our bass player John Mengual (sitting next to Tom are all deceased) It was a wonderful concert, they had PA issues I believe because of the voltage difference here and ended up using our Ovation PA (hardly worthy of their talents but it got them through the gig.) I remember passing by a room prior to the concert and Bill was playing on a grand piano and I thought he was wonderful too!
