"1948 home movie of the Stockton Fire Department doing an exercise at the old Engine Company No.2 & Truck Company No. 1 & 2 at 26 South Hunter. My Dad is in some parts of this as this was where he worked." -Video transfer from 8mm film, provided by Ken Piper. On behalf of Stockton Firefighters and the Stockton Fire Department Historical Society, Thank You Ken. This video is an important part of the research and preservation of the history of the Stockton Fire Department. Originally posted to the FB Group 'Stockton History.' This footage (like many home film from the 1940's) was mute; sound was added by StocktonFireHistory. Enjoy. More Information from Ken Piper about his Grandfather shooting the film, and his dad working for the Stockton Fire Department: "They were both Roy Eugene Piper, Jr and Sr. I don't know the rank of my father in SFD, but he did work on the rescue squad in the 50s. Then in the late 50s he transferred to the alarm station. He retired in 74 when he suffered a heart attack."
