2017 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue: The Past, Present and Future The 2017 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue changed perceptions this year by adding more athletes and real sized women to their spread. The magazine featured Serena Williams, Aly Raisman, and Simone Biles as their top three women athletes. In addition to their other models the spread highlighted full figured model Ashley Graham, veteran super model Christie Brinkley, and the ever so popular Kate Upton. With such well-known names and diversity, this year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue defied stereotypes and embraced the beauty and sex appeal of an athletic body.
