Who is the strongest in this class??? Enjoy this video of Didier Wittebolle who is challenging infants at school to open a new child resistant carton Locked4Kids. I hope you'll have fun watching the children struggling in their attempt to open the cartons. During the official tests of Locked4Kids cartons, none of the children managed to open the cartons in the first 5 minutes of the test, and only four out of 100 children managed to open the carton in the second five minutes, which starts after the supervisor has shown the children how the carton should be opened. A fantastic result! Imagine how happy you would feel if in that one unguarded moment, this carton would have safeguarded your child... What only few people know is how difficult it is to develop packaging that is difficult to open for young children, but easy to open for seniors. Believe it or not there's only a very thin line between an idea that works, and one that does't work. And the only way to find out if an idea works is to do a lot of testing. There's a strict testing protocol that has to be executed by a certified institute to get packaging certified against the EN8317 and/or US 16 CRF 1700.20 standard for reclosable child resistant packaging. The tests involve young children aged 44-51 months as well as adults between 50 and 70 years. To pass the children's test 15% of openings are allowed in the first 5 minutes, and 20% in the second 5 minutes. Mr. Didier Wittebolle, the supervisor in this video, is Head of Department Child Resistant Packaging at BVI in Belgium, an ISO 17025 certified testing body.
