En inglés, hay dos maneras de decir "hay". Cuando se trata de algo singular, se dice "there is", y cuando se trata de algo plural, se dice "there are". Se puede hacer una contracción con "there is", la cual es "there's". No hay ninguna contracción con "there are". Para negar, simplemente se coloca "not" después de "is" y "are" (there is not, there are not). También se pueden usar las contracciones "isn't" y "aren't" (there isn't, there aren't). Para hacer preguntas, se voltea el orden. En lugar de decir "there is" y "there are", se dice "is there" y "are there". Para hacer preguntas negativas, se dice "isn't there" y "aren't there".
