1st MPJ fusion due to a misaligned rotated bunion of big toe AND hallux rigidus of same big toe due to an accident. There was hardly any arthritis in my big toe so I had no pain in the MTP joint pre surgery, but because my big toe had a misaligned rotated bunion, I was treading on a deformed rigid toe that was painful on the very distal medial side of my toe when walking which further limited my walking distance to an already existing limited walking distance due to bilateral fused heels due to comminuted heels in 2018. Performing a chevron akin instead of a fusion would have been pointless, because I have an existing damaged right side L5 nerve injury (I burst fractured my L4 and L5 in 2018) which affects the big toe, hamstring muscles, gluteus muscles and some sensation loss on the distal dorsal part of my foot and lateral side of my crus - so this L5 nerve injury would not allow me to extend my big toe even if the chevron akin procedure would make it possible to bend my toe and on top having a misaligned rotated big toe which is now corrected with the fusion surgery. I will be posting part 2 soon where I get more into pain management and opioid side effects.
