Gallbladder stones are found very commonly in recent times, and this is becoming equally common in young and old patients. The most common question asked by the patients after the sonography is, what size of the gallbladder stone is really dangerous to a person. 1:00 Why and how are stones formed in the gallbladder? Reasons behind the gallbladder stone formation can be many like: 1. Dietary factor (consumption of high cholesterol ) 2. Hormonal factor 3. Age factor 4. Due to bile not being able to be pushed ahead it stays in the gallbladder causing impurities like: 1. Bile impurities 2. Cholesterol crystals 3. Bile salt crystals These crystals and impurities mix together to form a fine powder which is known as "Gallbladder sludge" this is the main reason for stone formation in the gallbladder and with time creates small stones and then later on larger gallbladder stones which can be problematic. 2:37 Small gallbladder stones (Less than 5mm) these are also known as micro stones or sludge and they have their own set of dangers they carry for the human body.
